Service Engineer

Arkay Windows are recruiting for a window and door service engineer to work within the Customer Care team.

We are looking for a positive, hardworking problem solver to join our established team. A working knowledge of uPVC and aluminium windows, doors and bifolds is essential and experience within a similar role is desirable.

Duties include providing a friendly, efficient service at all times in all aspects of aftercare and service to our growing customer base, repairing faults, adjustments, and assessments of windows, doors and bifolds to the highest standards of workmanship.

A full UK driving license is essential for travel to and from customer sites. A Company vehicle and fuel card will be provided once initial training is complete.

Key Responsibilities

  • Each job will entail engaging with customers on site and evaluate the products that we have provided. Your role will be to assess issues and provide an accurate solution.
  • Provide clear communication confidently to customers.
  • Install products, accessories and glass ensuring correct health and safety measures are taken at all times.
  • Maintain accurate levels of commonly required parts in the van.
  • Provide regular communication with the After Sales Team, keeping them updated with escalations.
  • Ensure follow-up work requirements are referred back appropriately to colleagues to enable necessary action and recommendations to customers.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, sometimes with multiple customer engagements.
  • Willing to take on challenging assignments and resolve accordingly.
  • Conduct regular observation checks on delivery vans and informing management of any issues. This also includes the cleanliness of the van.
  • Plan the shortest and best routes to clients by taking factors such as roadblocks and traffic into consideration.
  • Call the customer with an estimated time of arrival for site visit.

The purpose of this role is to provide detailed quotations for Arkay Windows products to our customer base, as well as providing general customer support and overseeing junior colleagues in the same role. The successful candidate will need to be able to correspond confidently with customers by phone, email and in person. Strong people skills and a good technical knowledge of glazing systems are critical.

Quotations will mainly be created using Logikal and Window Designer software. Experience in the glazing industry as an estimator or similar role is required, and the ideal candidate will have worked with one or both of these software packages before. A strong focus on accuracy and sense of time-keeping are required to ensure customers receive their quotes within deadlines and in accordance with their specific project requirements.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide quotations to customers in a prompt and accurate fashion by analysing drawings, specifications and related documents, and ensuring all requirements are met.
  • Undertake the role of assigned estimator for key clients, serving as their main point of contact for sales and ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Manage the in-house CRM system ensuring that all quotes are assigned to estimators of appropriate skill levels and are priced on-time.
  • Ensure that all documents and systems are correctly updated as jobs progress.
  • Checking the work of junior colleagues and ensuring quotations are correct before they are sent to customers for approval.
  • Induct and train new estimators where necessary.
  • Undergo training on new products & systems as needed.
  • Lead team/department meetings and address day-to-day issues / recommend improvements.
  • Answer general enquires via e-mail and telephone.

Ad hoc – undertake various tasks as and when required.

  • Handling customer showroom sample queries.
  • Dealing with customer queries – trade (new & existing) and homeowners.
  • Show potential customers and homeowners around the factory/showroom.
  • Answering the sales helpline, assisting with reception duties, welcoming, and serving beverages for walk-in customers/homeowners.

Key skills

  • Estimating – the ability to quickly interpret customer drawings and price the most appropriate glazing system. Estimating experience and working technical knowledge of glazing systems are essential.
